El límite de lo útil // The limits of the Useful @ Pasajes de Arquitectura 121

An article by Miguel Paredes in Pasajes de Arquitectura 121 (February 2012)

Using an argumentation initially developed by philosopher Georges Bataille, the article explores the limits of the validation criteria established by classical usefulness as extracted from Vitruvius’s statement “Firmitas, Utilitas, Venustas”. It explores the values of the recycled, the ambiguous, or the wasteful in contemporary architecture.
